Using Cheqroom for equipment requests

As of the Fall 2024 semester, classes in the Multimedia discipline group will be using Cheqroom to facilitate student equipment requests.

Cheqroom is fairly straightforward to use, but if you encounter any problems or have any questions please ask the teacher or the lab tech for your class for assistance.

If you already have an account for the Mass Communication program, visit login.cheqroom.com.

There are also smartphone apps available for Cheqroom.

Account Creation

To begin using Cheqroom, you will need an account. Speak with the lab tech to request an account be created. You will need to provide an email address and fill out an equipment contract for the semester.

You will receive an invite email from Cheqroom to finish setting up your account. If you provide a phone number, you can also receive text notifications regarding your reservations.

Reserving Equipment

To reserve equipment, sign into Cheqroom and select Reservation from the menu. Click New Reservation to begin a request.

Under When, select a day and time to pick up and return the equipment. Please allow time for the request to be filled. Don’t expect something to be ready if you only give an hour’s notice.

Under Equipment, click Add Items or Kits to bring up a list of all equipment available to check out. The list can be large, but you can narrow it down by searching for a specific item (ie. “Camera” or “Macbook”) or using the Categories drop down menu to select a specific type of equipment. Once you have selected equipment to check out, click Add Items or Kits again to add it to your reservation.

You can add any comments or questions to comment field if necessary.

When you’re done selecting equipment, click Reserve in the upper right corner.

The lab tech will be notified and will be reach out if further details are needed.

Picking up request

Unless otherwise arranged with the lab tech or instructor, show up at the time you requested and your equipment should be ready. 

During check out period

If you encounter any problems while you have equipment checked out, you can contact the lab tech directly or you can go to Check-outs from the Cheqroom sidemenu and select your request from the list. From there, you can add a comment with the details of your problems.

Returning equipment

Simply bring the equipment back to the lab tech by the return time you selected. You will receive automated reminders from Cheqroom of when the equipment is due.
